Traditionally a "shroud" is just a plain unsewn piece of cloth . However a plain piece of  fabric is difficult to handle, has no structure  and does not work well for "no casket" green  burial. Not  only difficult to wrap, carry, and lower for green (non- religious )services- it can also leak !
